Here's the skinny

Soulbox is offering Rock n' Roll Sessions starting August 22, 2005. This 3 month program is geared for kids 8-16 who want to be in a band and learn how to play music - guitar, drums, sing, bass, keyboard, percussion...etc. The idea is to form a cool band, write a couple hip tunes and then have a live concert for friends, fans and groupies at the end of the session. The band will get to record their songs, make a video, design a band t-shirt and other rad stuff.

The Sessions are open to guys and gals of any ability - from beginner to advanced. Rock 'n roll is pretty basic, so that's what our teachings will focus on - basic chord structure, rhythm, writing songs and other essential basics.

Soulbox Sessions is first and foremost meant to be fun. At it's core the budding rocker's learn many practical concepts that carry over to life and business, such as:

* working as a group
* promoting
* being original
* hard work
* confidence
* execution
* creating and having fun

Need to know

Each band needs at least one guitar player, one bass player, drummer (optional), one singer, keyboard player/ percussions. Up to 7 people can be in a band. If ya wanna play in the band you gotta have the instrument to play. You can't learn to do rock splits and perform face melting solo's without practicing at home with your own instrument. A good quality guitar usually costs under $100. We have electric guitars available for $89 and basses for $99 so it won't break the bank to make the purchase. Also we do have one on one lessons available for those eager to learn to rock faster.

The Session

The bands will be formed and put together according to the instrument they want to play and ability. Once all the spots are filled a band is formed. Your band will meet once a week from 4-5 pm or 5-6pm time slot. We'll let you know as the entry forms come in. The cost is $120/month for the sessions, the band cd is $10, the dvd video is $25, the band t-shirt is $12.
